Education

The District 10 School Board serves the Charlotte Coastal Region. The School District operates a number of elementary, middle and high schools spread throughout the Charlotte Coastal Region:

Blacks Harbour – The village has an elementary school serving 164 students in kindergarten to grade 6.

Grand Manan – The Grand Manan Community School serves over 400 students from kindergarten to grade 12. The school receives strong community support and hosts numerous student clubs, special initiatives and special projects. Grand Manan has consistently produced strong basketball teams at various levels.

St. George – The St. George Elementary School services about 321 students from kindergarten to grade 6. The school also houses the town’s library. St. George Elementary School has various programs and initiatives in place including basketball which is offered for grades 2 to 6 by the St. George Minor Basketball Association.

Fundy High School, located in St. George, serves 666 students in grades 7 to 12 offering comprehensive academic and vocational courses of study and extracurricular activities which include sports, photography and theatre arts. The St. George Community Access Centre is located in the school’s tech lab and provides Internet access and computer courses for young and old.

St. Stephen – The town has two elementary schools both serving from kindergarten to grade 5; Milltown Elementary School with 210 students and St. Stephen Elementary School with 585 students. The St. Stephen Middle School serves 513 students in grades 6 to 8. St. Stephen High School has 640 students in grades 9 to 12. All schools in the community are proactive in promoting extracurricular programs and activities.

St. Andrews – The Vincent Massey Elementary School accommodates about 185 students from kindergarten to grade 6. Students then move to the Sir James Dunn Academy, which serves approximately 200 students from grades 7 to 12.

In addition to the schools operated by District 10 School Board, the Charlotte Coastal Region is also home to the New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) St. Andrews Campus. The NBCC St. Andrews Campus is home to approximately 400 full-time students pursuing post secondary diplomas in three main areas of focus: Business Information Technology, Trades and Aquaculture, and Tourism Management.

St. Stephen is also home to a small university which provides academic and residential facilities for up to 80 students. The university offers a Bachelor of Arts Degree with several areas of concentration available in the liberal arts. Graduate level programs leading to the Degree of Bachelor of Ministry and Master of Ministry are also offered.
